Rebecca finished her junior year at Grant.  She will be manager of the football team again this year.  She is teaching at Vacation Bible School and house/dog sitting for several weeks this summer.

Raymond graduated from Springdale Job Corps May 22. He earned his GED and completed his vocational training in electrical. He was part of the largest class graduated from Springdale. There were more than 30 graduates in 6 vocational fields. Ray is currently working for Pepsi. He is on the evening shift, pulling orders and loading trucks. He is living in downtown Portland with his girl friend Jamie Bates. Jamie is a senior at Portland State studying Art History.

Ray, Jamie, Rebecca and I went to the Festival of the Bands during Rose Festival. The bands competed in 2 categories this year, Parade performance and Field Show. The Parade division was a competition between Centennial, Columbia River, and Skyview (the new high school in Orchards). Centennial won. The Field Show was Hillsboro, a visiting South Dakota band and Sunset. Sunset took it all. South Dakota did win the People's award. They were the only band everyone chapped for. We all had a great time.

I was in Nashville June 12-15 for a Grainsmart User Group conference.  During our free time I went to the Opry Mills mall, eating at the Aquarium.  The restaurant which seats over 400, has a 200,000 gal saltwater aquarium in the center.  There were sharks, manta rays, and lots of others.  They employ 6 marine biologists with at least one on site about 20 hrs a day.  They also have 2 other tanks, one a tropical tunnel.  The kids there were having fun finding Nemo and Dora.  They have other restaurant in Houston, Florida and Denver.  The Denver restaurant has a 1,000,000 gal aquarium.  I also went to the Gaylord Opryland Resort and saw the great under dome gardens they have.  I also saw the Norman Rockwell traveling exhibit.  It will be there until mid-Sept.  I have been looking for the tour itinerary but have not found it yet.  The exhibit was fabulous and is definitely worth seeing.  If it comes somewhere reasonably close I will go again.
